Ray of Hope Medical Center – Fort Portal, Uganda

“We realized… that you cannot educate the children when they are too sick to attend school.”

HHCharities exists to serve the impoverished and underserved people of Africa with a primary interest in the Fort Portal, Uganda community.

Since 2008 we have traveled yearly to Fort Portal, Uganda and each time we are deeply touched by the number of orphans and widows there. HHCharities has two goals set for helping this community; first, to build a medical center that will save lives by treating common ailments and educating the community on disease and infection prevention. This center will be a 26 x 54 building with approximately 1404 square feet; housing a reception area with restrooms, five (5) exam rooms, a laboratory, doctors and staff office, and a secured drug storage room.

The timeline for the completion of the Ray of Hope Medical Center is the 4th quarter of 2013, with a cost estimate of $101,665 including opportunities for interested person(s) or organizations to purchase Naming Rights for the entire medical center or particular rooms within the center.

We have not forsaken our mission to build the Ray of Hope Children’s Home that will house 500 orphans. This is now our second goal.  We realized, through needs assessment, that you cannot educate the children when they are too sick to attend school.

The Uganda Ministry of Health reports that between 70,000 and 100,000 children die each year as a direct result of diseases and the number one killer is Malaria. Malaria, respiratory infections and diarrhea are the main causes of death in children under five years of age. Uganda carries the highest proportion of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS worldwide. Approximately 20,000 babies are infected by HIV annually through mother-to-child transmission. Many people die of common infections we take for granted; from cuts, bug bites and treatable ailments, simply because they do not have the common antiseptics.

HHCharities has committed to make a difference in Fort Portal, Uganda’s health environment.

Sincerely,

Randy Clark
Director of Construction & Development
